#50 What is Mindfulness for Beginners | How to Apply It in Daily Life | Being vs. Becoming | Non Duality
Description
Welcome to the first of our Meditation for Beginners Series - an exploration of Meditation and Mindfulness, viewed through the lens of Non-Duality. In this video, we aim to clarify what Mindfulness really is, the life-changing benefits it offers, and how you can seamlessly incorporate it into your everyday routine.
We begin by examining two distinct approaches to Mindfulness. The first involves focusing your attention on a specific object—like your breath, a mantra, or even a feeling of loving-kindness. This method, widely practiced, helps to calm the mind, increase focus, and foster emotional stability. It’s an excellent starting point for beginners, offering quick and noticeable results.
The second approach, which we’ll explore in greater depth, involves simply observing your thoughts and emotions as they arise—without trying to control or change them. This practice, rooted in Non-Dual teachings like Advaita Vedanta and certain Buddhist traditions, encourages you to experience life as the pure Subject, cultivating a state of being rather than becoming. Though it may be more challenging to grasp, this method can be profoundly transformative.
We’ll also discuss why it’s crucial to step back from our hyper-productive, multi-tasking culture, which often leaves us feeling anxious and disconnected. By practicing Mindfulness, we can break free from the constant barrage of thoughts and emotions that dominate our lives and begin to experience a deeper, more authentic reality.
Finally, we’ll offer practical advice on how to integrate Mindfulness into your daily life. Whether it’s dedicating just 5 uninterrupted minutes a day to this practice or gradually rewiring your habits, consistency is key. Over time, you’ll find that Mindfulness not only improves your mental clarity and emotional well-being but also becomes a source of inner peace and fulfillment.
